Build What Comes Next With Us.

We value technical depth, business experience, and sound judgment. Share your experience to be considered for contract work, future roles at Omega, and client placements.

Working at Omega

Generalist? Former founder?
We want to talk to you.

Building Omega takes people who develop software, deliver client work, grow business relationships, and keep operations moving. If your experience spans several fields or running your own business has made you hard to fit into a conventional job description, we want to hear from you.

Who we look for

Know something real

The experience you bring from another field helps us see problems and opportunities that technical knowledge alone can miss.

Be a professional in something first

Bring experience in operations, finance, engineering, or another field you know well. Entrepreneurship teaches you to earn customers' trust and take responsibility for results. That ownership makes for exceptional employees here.

Technical depth. Business perspective.

Software developers and engineers belong here, alongside people from adjacent technical and operational fields. Connect your expertise to the wider business problem.

No degree required

We care what you know how to do and whether you can prove it.

Keep learning with us

Experienced engineers can deepen their practice here. People entering from adjacent fields can learn to apply AI alongside our team. The expertise you bring matters in both paths.

Fit

Is this the right fit?

Who this is for

Analytical generalists

You connect systems, processes, and business needs. Your experience may span several fields or job titles.

Pragmatic builders

You ask what the business needs and see the solution through to deployment.

Domain aware

You bring experience in fields such as hardware, finance, or operations and choose tools that fit the problem.

Adaptable

You ask why a process works the way it does, listen to the people using it, and help them find a better way.

Who this is not for

Working without business context

The work asks you to connect technical decisions to how a business runs. If you prefer a role focused entirely on one specialty, this may not fit.

A fixed way of working

Experience matters. You also need to question your assumptions, consider better approaches, and change course when the evidence calls for it.

Research without implementation

This is applied work. You need to care about how a system performs for the people using it, as well as how it is designed.

Exploration without follow-through

Curiosity about AI is welcome. The role also requires careful analysis and the follow-through to turn an idea into something useful.

Standards

Team expectations

You want to learn

The tooling changes constantly. We expect you to keep learning, test new approaches, and share what you find.

You welcome feedback

We question designs, explain our reasoning, and change our minds when the evidence calls for it. Asking for help and admitting uncertainty are part of the work.

You take initiative

You manage your schedule and make decisions about your projects, with support when you need it and clear expectations about the outcome.

You deliver results

We assess the results you deliver. Completing the agreed work on time and under budget is the standard.

Values

What we hold each other to

Discipline

You document decisions, test your work, and account for edge cases so others can maintain what you build.

Intelligence

You investigate problems carefully, explain your reasoning, and say when you do not know.

Empathy

You listen to the people using the system and consider how it will change their work.

Creativity

Art and engineering are first cousins. You imagine what is possible and bring the technical skill to build it.

Transparency

You share progress and raise problems early so teammates and clients can make informed decisions.

Culture

Our culture, in practice.

Everyone starts as a contractor

Through our talent network, candidates must meet our standards before working with us as contractors. That work lets us evaluate them firsthand before hiring them or placing them with a client.

Fully remote, and fully committed

Remote work is how we run the company. Clear communication and coordination keep the team connected.

Our minimum salary is $57,298

A floor, not an offer. Nobody here earns less than Knoxville's median household income, anchored to US Census data and rebenchmarked yearly. Offers start above it.

You manage your schedule. We manage your workload.

A dentist appointment should not require vacation time. Work when it works for you, communicate clearly, and coordinate with the people who depend on your work. On time and under budget is the standard.

Room to own your work

We give you clear priorities, trust you to make decisions, and provide support when you need it.

Stay in touch year round

We welcome introductions throughout the year and review them as contract projects, roles at Omega, and client placements become available.

Talent network

Stay Connected.

Email a note about your experience, expertise, project interests, and availability. Include links to anything you’ve built. Live demos are preferred. Resumes are optional. We care more about what you can do.

We review your experience and evaluate your readiness for suitable contract projects under our direction. That work lets us see your abilities firsthand before a potential hire at Omega or placement with a client.
